Jackson: 8 Months

Wow this weekend was a busy one!!  I am sure many of you are feeling as exhausted as I am tonight as I look around at a house full of new things.  We had a very blessed Christmas and I hope you did too.  I really wanted to post tonight about our Christmas weekend and all the fun we have had but I have not had the chance to post Jackson's 8 month pictures yet so I am going to do that tonight instead and then sometime this week I will post about Christmas.

At 8 months Jackson is busier than ever...He just never slows down.  We are enjoying his activity and all of the new things he is learning from day to day.  He loves interactive toys that make noise or have a purpose.  His favorite toys are those that have balls or just a ball in general.  Most of all he likes to play with things he knows he shouldn't be playing with and somehow he has a way of figuring out just which ones are the most breakable.  This last month he broke my bestfriends glass candy dish when we were visiting.  I thought it was out of his grasp but he reached with all his might and pulled it down on top of himself.  After two hours of internet surfing I was able to find the exact dish and order it for her just in time for Christmas.

He is getting around the house well, pulling up and exploring.  I think he is going to be an early walker but we will have to see here in the next month or two.  He is also dancing recently.  When music comes on he starts to get a little wiggle going on.  This kid loves peek a boo and can even pull his blankie over his own head and surprise Mommy too.  He likes to brush his teeth, seriously he could sit on the bathroom counter for an hour with his toothbrush and he gets very upset when I take it away.  Finally Jackson likes to read books to Mommy and Daddy.  He stares at the pages very intent and will babble with each page.  It is a little scary all of the things he already picks up from our behavior and has made me start to think about some of the things I do.

Loves to look in mirrors and talk to his reflection.
Jackson is eating lots of new things.  He takes three bottles a day and then eats three meals a day with a sippee of fomula too.  I was very apprehensive to start him on regular solids but with a little push from the daycare we are off and running with real foods and he loves it.  I have an intense fear of choking and it has been really hard for me to let him eat things especially when I am not around to supervise.  We are giving him lots of soft veggies and fruits and now he has just started having a little of whatever we are eating supplemented with some baby food at each meal.  Just like Mom and Dad he loves his pastas!!  He has also eaten some hamburger, and chicken.  He loves to eat and feels left out if we are eating something and he is not.  We went to the Doctor this last month for some wheezing he was having and when they put him on the scale I was a little shocked.  He was still in his clothes but weighed in at 19lbs 7ozs.  He is a big boy!
Jackson has started sleeping so much better this last month.  He FINALLY puts himself to sleep at night and rarely wakes up for his binkie and then goes right back to sleep.  Best part is he sleeps until 7 most days, wakes up for a bottle and wants to go right back to sleep for a couple of hours.  He is definely on a Mommy kind of schedule.  Naps have gottten easier and longer too.

This kiddo is happy all the time.  When we go places people comment on his smile and how friendly he is and how happy he is all the time.  He will smile at anyone who talks to him.  He does have a very cantankerous side as well.  He is exerting his independence quite well these days.  When he is doing something naughty and I take him away from what he is doing he has started throwing his head back and yelling.  I say yelling because it is a cry like you have never heard.  He lets out a strained shreak when he doesn't get his way.  My Mother says he is just like me and that I am in trouble, I am hoping it is just a phase.  I am happy that he is determined and even if he is a little difficult I know that if he is as determined as I am he will be just fine in life.

I took away his ornament becasue he bit the top of it off :(

This time of year has been so wonderful with him.  I am so thankful and feel so blessed to have him in our lives.  I have not been giddy about Christmas morning, like I was this year, for a few years.  He is the happiest little boy!  His smile just lights me up inside.
