Breakfast In Bed

Today started with a wonderful breakfast made by my hubby.  I knew from then on it was gonna be a good day!!  Nothing beats carbohydrates covered in syrup in the morning!!

Honey, I love how sweet you are to me!!
It certainly helped fuel a productive day...

Some new decor has graced the walls in our living room.  It was a long time coming since all we had on them were wedding photos. (Ignore the giant holes in the wall, those are from the last thing hanging and will be fixed "shortly" or so I'm told)

The Fall Fairy visited our house as well.  She dusted a little goodness here and there.  I know I am getting started a little early but I just love the fall so much!

Besides, when I noticed this little number in a forgotten corner I knew it was time...

My new favorite decoration in my house is this cute little book!! (Courtesy of Kendall Herman)

Then it was time for a makeover since this Mommy has been feeling a bit too Mom like lately...

Aren't we a cute little family??

To top off the night Jess and I enjoyed a date night out on the town.  It was a wonderful time of laughing and talking.  No pictures but I assure you they would have been comical if we would have taken any.

All in all a pretty amazing day!!

OH...I almost forgot to post these cute little gifts we made for Jackson's Grandparents Day gifts.  Here is the finished product...

And finally a BIG announcement.........................drum roll please!!

After 5 years I will be returning to school this spring.  I was accepted to University of Central Missouri and will start working toward my degree as a Nurse Practitioner.  I am very excited and a little scared but I know it is time to take the leap.

Lots of exciting things going on around here!!  Enjoy the weekend!

Jackson: 5 Months

Little Man is 5 months!!

Life with this happy baby just keeps getting better and better.  Jack is so very laid back and fun these days.  He smiles at everyone and loves to see others laughing.  He is just a lot of fun!!

Nicknames have become very popular in our house.  It seems like we are always coming up with new ones.  Jack Man, Jack Jack, Happy Dude, Bunny, Sleepy Dude, and sweet boy.  They may not be too inventive but we sure are attached to them.

Sleep has gotten so much better.  Gone are the days of three hour bedtime routines.  We are finally able to lay him in his bed and he will simply go to sleep (or play until he falls asleep).  He is still waking in the middle of the night to eat but it is just once and then he goes right back to sleep.

Jackson is eating every three hours still and just this week we started to give him cereal.  He LOVED it.  It was the funniest thing I have ever seen.  I am still nursing him and I am not planning to stop anytime soon but pumping is difficult.  Supplementing may be in our near future because I just can't keep up.

This month Jack is working on getting active.  He likes to be upright in his Johnny Jump Up or exersaucer and gets frustrated with being on the floor for too long.  He rolls all over the room and he has even started to scoot.  I think crawling is in our near future as he is able to get up on his knees and rock back and forth.  It is so fun to see him learning all of these things.  My heart just swells with pride when I see him do something new.  He also loves to be out and about, and when we are, I get countless comments about how good of a baby he is.

Our house is full of laughter lately.  He thinks everything is funny and we think he is funny so all we do is laugh at each other.

His loves:
his toes
his thumb
music and dancing
his daddy, he loves me too but it is just different with daddy,
snuggles
different textures like hair, carpet, sheets, and skin
electronics: nothing gets this boy moving and determined like the remote control or a cell phone
reaching for Mommy and Daddy when he wants to be picked up or held

This kid is my heart and soul! I love you sweet baby boy!!

{Blue Jean Baby}

OK can I just take a moment to brag... because my son is seriously adorable!!

Squish those cheeks baby!!
I know every parent says this about their child and before I had Jackson I didn't really get it but now I totally do.  Really though isn't he just handsome?....
His eyes have turned to a gorgeous blue gray color :)  So beautiful!
Yesterday was somewhat chilly so I got to dress Jack in little jeans for the first time.  I have an obsession with little baby jeans.  They are so very cute.

So of course a little impromptu photo session was in order.

His personality is growing and growing.  He is such a happy little guy but boy when he is mad; he is MAD!!  And he will let you know...

He is moving and grooving these days and I feel like I can't leave the room for a second because he will roll around and scoot somewhere he shouldn't be.  I can't help but get excited for him because he works so hard to get where he wants to go but at the same time I know it means trouble for my near future.

We are spending our evenings so blissfully these days.  With me home more it means more family time and more time for fun.  You don't realize what one extra day home can do for your family until you have it and I feel so blessed to be here with them.

Last night our project was making a little something for the Grandma's and Grandpa's in our life.  Here is a little sneak peak since Grandparents day isn't until Sunday...

I will post the finished product after Jackson gives them to his Grandparents this weekend.

Here are my quick tips for finger painting with a four (almost five) month old:
1.  Two helpers is a MUST!
2.  Baby must be naked.  No cloth diaper for this project unless you want to spend the night getting the stains out.
3.  If you coat the hand or foot in Vaseline before putting the paint on it will wipe right off, no worry of staining the skin a weird color.
4.  Well pad the area.
5.  Less is more...when it comes to the paint our best prints were the ones with the least amount.
6.  HAVE FUN!!  Let them explore!

He loved this little project..

I am very excited for this weekend!!  We have parties to attend and fun to be had with family and friends.  I have one very special meeting on Sunday that I have been anticipating for several weeks.  More on that later though...

Hope you all have a wonderful week and weekend!!

Mommyhood

Today has been one of those days...

My hair is greasy, I don't remember the last time I ate... or took a shower, I am still in my PJ's at 5p.m., my newly cleaned house is already a disaster, my to do list has turned into a to do book and the list goes on...

Today my fussy guss baby only wants to be held and snuggled.  These kind of days are rough for a driven Mommy like myself.  They don't always bring out the best in me and I am sure my hubby is asking himself what he did to deserve being snapped at all day, but I do my best.

I know someday I will miss these snuggly days and even now when I look down at Jackson lying in my lap I can't help but smile.  I try to take these days in stride and enjoy the cute little things.  Motherhood isn't always simple, but it is always beautiful, wonderful, and fullfilling.

So for those Mommies having a rough day like me just hang on because this moment may seem ugly but the next one will be something amazing!
