Lately :)

I am sitting in the dark right now, bowl of mint chocolate chip in hand, enjoying the silence.  I should be in bed but I just can't sleep right now.  I enjoyed a night of crafting with my momma and my littlest sister.  She will be ten next month and I am just blown away.

We made these cuties for her birthday invitations...

It felt so good to slip my hands into a pair of scissors, and tie some bows...things I haven't done since becoming a mommy.  You should have seen me in the craft store today.  I was loving life.  Jackson was all swaddled up in his wrap sleeping as I bopped around that place wanting to put one of everything in my cart.  I am surprised he was able to sleep through all of the excitement but then again he is a boy.

In my family I am known as the creative one, which is hilarious to me because I have friends who out-do me in every sense of the word.  I love that they think I am creative and I will just have to continue to fool them into believing it.  The craftiness today has inspired a few projects for me in these coming weeks so stay tuned.  Crafting with a baby could get interesting!

Otherwise life around here has been all about Jack...

Weekends!!

Jackson and I have been dying to get outside but it has been too hot in recent days to take a baby outside for more than five seconds.  This weekend we were finally able to get out and enjoy some good weather.

Jess has been hard at work on our roof...

Yes our insurance company called us at the end of July to tell us that our roof must be replaced by September 1st.  Don't these people know we are new parents with busy schedules....and hello it has been 110 degrees.  Needless to say my hubby will be on the roof for the next week I am sure.

Jackson and I took this opportunity to grab a blankie and go out to watch Daddy.  It was a great time for a photo shoot too.  Our house has zero light for good pictures so when I can go outside for some pictures I love it.

Would have combined this post with his four month one but I like to keep his month to month stuff separate for keepsake purposes.  Oh well, you get to enjoy two posts today.

On the agenda this week...teething.  That's right and I mean hardcore teething.  For the last week he has had a runny nose and has been drooling and biting but I thought surely it was too early for teeth.  Well I was wrong!!  Today we have it all including two little white mounds on the lower gum line.  He has a runny nose, drooling, has been biting, won't nurse, diarrhea, and a fever.  Fun stuff!!  The best part...the screaming!!  On a serious note though my heart breaks for him.  I can't help but love on him extra hard today because I know he is hurting.  Praying these little things come in soon so that he doesn't have to be in pain plus I know he will be so cute with little teeth.

Have a great week!!

Four Months Old

Our little Jackson just keeps on growin'...but then again that's what babies do.

Four months has seemed like the blink of an eye.  I feel like each month just before he rolls over into a new month old he must get scared that he hasn't done enough new things so he starts working hard to do something new. Just days before turning four months old he decided it was time to start rolling.  He rolls back and forth now but has a new found love for being on his tummy.

Oh yeah and he thinks he should be able to stand too...

Sleeping is the biggest change in our house this month.  Jess and I were at our wits end with a bedtime routine that took almost three hours and then waking up every two to three hours all night long.  We decided it was time to put some hard work into bedtime now rather than continue with bad habits any longer.  I am happy to report that as of this last week Jackson is going down for bed in about 20-30 minutes(still working on this) and sleeping ALL NIGHT!!  That's right eleven long hours.  His napping schedule has also fallen into place now that he sleeps at night.  The best part is he wakes up happy and talking in his crib!  I just hope we can keep things going and be consistent.

Jackson is still eating every three hours and he eats about five ounces.  I am going to talk to his pediatrician this month about when to start cereal and solids.  He is still Mommy's big boy; weighing in at over 15lbs on our scale at home so I am anxious to see what the official doctor scale says about height, weight, and percentiles.  I am not however excited about four month shots.  Hopefully he will take it like a champ.

Jackson has been so active lately.  I can tell this little guy is going to keep me busy.  He grabs at everything and I am always telling him "thank you but mommy doesn't need help with this one hunny".  He wants to do it all; put his binkie in, get himself dressed, wash his own face etc.  Mostly he wants to impede the process by putting everything in his mouth.  Oh well it's cute!!

See what I mean by BUSY... and yes we had a spotter for this one.

He has been playing in his Johnny Jump Up and we just got him an exersaucer.  He loves them both because he can be upright and looking around at things.  He loves to look at books and hear Mommy read.  His most favorite thing is to be tickled right under his chin or on his sides.  He goes crazy giggling and it makes me melt.  His temperament is so much more laid back since he started to sleep better.

Such a sweet happy little boy!!

Catching My Breath

I have been pretty quiet on here lately but it hasn't been because of a lack of things to do.  In fact I have been BUSY

This cutie pie occupies my happiest moments...

All geared up to go outside for 5 seconds.  Necessary?  I think yes!!

Seriously he is hilarious...and the best part of our lives!!  Boy loves his Daddy!!

Working full time nights keeps me pretty occupied in itself.  My work schedule has been getting me down lately, and although I love my job, I really just want to be at home with Jackson.  I wish I was able to stay home full time, at least for a little while.  Instead I am going to go part-time at work.  With the blessing of a better job for my hubby, I am able to stay home a little more for now.  I am so relieved and I can't wait until my new schedule gets started.

In other business I have been looking at those goals I made for the summer and realizing I am lagging way behind.  I have less than one month left and so far I have a measly start on each of my goals but nothing even close to completion.  I have used every spare minute I have had this week to catch up on these goals and so far I have made some progress.

Here are how things are going in the scrapbook department...(warning there are lots of pages)

Wow, that was a lot of late nights and nap times!!  I had such a good time doing these and I am almost completely finished.  I am learning so much about this program and it is fun to see how my pages have gotten so much better as I have come along.  Getting lots of inspiration from my bestie...she helps me figure it out when I am lost.

I have a good start on the office but won't be able to work on it for at least a week.  I have a long stretch of nights at work over the next week...I work five, twelve hour shifts in the next seven days...just call me crazy!!

I am determined and I will find a way to finish up my summer goals, just in time to set some new ones.

Hope you have a good weekend.  God willing, I will be saving lives!!
